Professional Practice

The course builds on industry relevance and industrial links, industry standard design and development processes. Our live project briefs and blended learning modes make for an efficient, flexible method of course delivery. From time management to client handling, legal, financial & ethical issues, our project-focused approach creates highly desirable and employable graduates.

Whenever possible we participate local industry events, see exhibitions around the country, and travel to international conferences such as the Transmediale, a Berlin-based festival that draws out new connections between art, culture, and technology.  We have also been on cultural studyvisits to UWE Bristol’s partner institute in Hong Kong where we

saw the Emerging Design Talents Degree Show and conducted a design probe into the user experiences of Hong Kong commuters, public transport and its information systems. This allowed students to design and practically apply a number of user research methods taught on the course.

Live Briefs

We maintain close links with industry partners who often act as live clients, so even if students decide not to go on a placement, they still obtain a good feel of the expectations of a Digital Media workplace.

Our latest round of collaborations include TVPP, Limina Immersive, Fruto Studio and the Bristol City Council. Interaction with professionals early on helps to build an industry-relevant creative portfolio.
